Rata Toru

We had our last day of swimming lessons today. Over the last 2 weeks we have all
learnt lots of new skills and made amazing progress. We were very lucky to have
3 awesome instructors; Liam, Stephen and Rachel plus we had glorious weather
for swimming.
Today Group 2 and 3 learnt about water safety and about how wearing life jackets
can save our lives. We had to work as a team by getting into a circle and hold onto
each other. Then we had to lean back on the water with our knees bent up in the
middle. This kept us all floating together and if there was a baby in trouble we could
help keep a baby safe and warm in the middle of our circle by resting on our legs.

Group 1 also learnt about wearing life jackets and how they help us float in the water to
save our lives. We practised floating on our backs and sometimes we were brave enough
to float on our tummies and get towed through the water.

  1. I was very impressed with the group that could stay afloat in the water. That looks like you'll be safe in an emergency. Well done.
