Maori Language Week

Maori Language Week for 2013 is about encouraging everyone
to learn more about Maori names, including place names and
names of people you may know. It is also about showing respect
for Maori Language by using the correct pronunciation.
Everyone in New Zealand can relate to this theme!

In our class we are practising naming places in New Zealand,
days of the week and numbers, learning new greetings plus
sharing our feelings in Maori.
Also, to celebrate Maori Language Week we are going to say our Mihimihi. This is about sharing our family origins, (whakapapa) in Maori by stating our name and where we are from.

Take a look inside the Communication Books this week and help support your child to learn their Mihimihi.
Thanks for your support!
